The Task
For the Protein Pints campaign, our team created a full-scale marketing project for Protein Pints, a growing Michigan startup founded by MSU students. Our goal was to highlight what makes Protein Pints different: high-protein, low-sugar ice cream, while building a campaign that matched the brand’s values and spoke to the audiences they wanted to reach.
We started with collaborative brainstorming sessions, mapping out the budget and production needs, and meeting regularly with the founders to make sure our ideas stayed aligned with their vision. From there, we moved into filming and content production, which came with its own challenges, including coordinating around student-athlete schedules and managing long shoot days. Staying flexible, adjusting timelines in real time, and maintaining clear communication were essential to keeping the project on track.
Over the summer, several team members remained in East Lansing to finish production and ensure timely delivery. Ultimately, our campaign became Protein Pints’ first major social media push and helped spark a new phase of growth for the company. Being involved from initial concept through final edits gave us firsthand insight into how a full campaign comes together—and made the experience even more rewarding than we expected.

“What we loved most about Protein Pints was that they were students from MSU and a business funded through the Burgess Institute of Entrepreneurs. Being able to connect with our community and help each other grow was our driving factor. About Protein Pints
Protein Pints is a Michigan start-up that offers ice cream pints with 30 grams of protein and less sugar. It was founded by Paul Reiss and Michael Meadows, who wanted to make a dessert that helps to meet nutritional goals. Reiss had been enrolled at Michigan State University as part of the Burgess Institute when he started Protein Pints in 2022. The first $2000 came from the Michigan Collegiate Startup Challenge, which was hosted by MSU that year. Now it is sold nationally in retailers such as Meijer, Target, and Kroger.
